Young Island

This vintage island setting feels like a place time has forgotten. Seventy-eight acres of forest, meadows, stone walls, and old apple trees stretch across the island, framed by a mile of untouched oceanfront with sand beaches, sheltered coves, and deep anchorage. The timeless beauty of this place invites you to pause and breathe in its quiet presence.

Dolphins, whales, eagles, and deer often appear close to the houses, sometimes right in front of the porch, which is surrounded by lilacs, weigela, and blooming rose bushes. Watching the natural world from here becomes part of everyday life. Fields and winding paths lead to hidden corners of the island, waiting to be discovered on long walks. When night falls, the star-filled sky, undimmed by light pollution, creates moments that linger in memory.

The island’s history is written in its landscape. It was farmed with oxen until 1972, and even today, the old fields, apple orchards, and stone walls speak of a way of life close to nature and shaped by the rhythm of the seasons.

The large wharf, three permanent moorings, and sheltered coves make it easy to come and go by boat. Exploring Mahone Bay’s islands, inlets, and coves by kayak or boat is a cherished part of life here. The mainland at Indian Point is just a five-minute boat ride away, where a private wharf with parking awaits.

This is a place for creating memories, for rediscovering nature, and for enjoying the quiet beauty of the moment. Life here moves at its own pace, grounded and always close to the sea.

YOUNG ISLAND´S smaller HOUSE

Young Island’s smaller house dates back to the early 20th century and has been carefully restored to preserve its original charm. It’s a place we hold dear, with a kitchen, dining room, cozy living room with fireplace, and a bathroom on the ground floor. Upstairs there are three double bedrooms and two bathrooms. The house is equipped with everything we need when we spend time there ourselves.

One of our favorite spots is the terrace with its BBQ grill. We enjoy taking the kayaks out on the water and use the motorboat whenever we head to the mainland or plan a longer trip.
